::::::::::::::: Why i left the public internet ::::::::::::::
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About a decade ago, cyberspace has been declared independent.
These days, the public internet is mostly run by big brother,
desperately trying to keep the netizen's mind under control.
Afraid of loosing power in a digital world, the US government
spreads lies about terrorist threats, which are used to built
a totalitarian police state.
0ld Europe not much better: lobbied by the entertainment biz,
the EU parliament has proposed a data-retention directive for
tracing the online activities of all it's members.
In Japan - like in many other countries that still believe in
the idea of intellectual property - music lovers are sued for
sharing their favorite bits. Moveover, even developers coding
the *wrong* piece of software are send to prison.
That is why the visible internet sucks: authorities take away
your privacy and big media tries to turn the whole thing into
a one way, consume-but-don't-try-programming channel.
Maybe i'll come back some day, but for now i'm off.
See you in the underground.
